CONCORD, N.C. -- The infield of Lowe's Motor Speedway will be filled with thousands of classic hot rod roadsters and colorful custom masterpieces when the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals cruises into town Friday through Sunday.

The 16th annual California-based Goodguys car show is a giant outdoor event featuring more than 2,000 pre-1972 hot rods, custom cars, classics, muscle cars and trucks. Lil' deuce coupes, hot rod roadsters, chopped Merc customs, Hemi Cuda's, Six Pack Challengers, Boss 429 Mustangs, Pontiac GTO's and many other specialty vehicles will be on display at the 1.5-mile superspeedway.

A new element of the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals is the Friday Night Drags at zMAX Dragway. The drag race event will feature the custom cars and hot-rods showing their muscle as they race down the concrete quarter mile at the Bellagio of drag strips. Nostalgia funny cars and super stockers are also set to compete.

Gates open at noon for the zMAX Dragway event and qualifying starts at 2 p.m. with eliminations at beginning at 5 p.m. Tickets for Friday Night Drags are $20 and are separate from tickets for the car show at the speedway. Fans with tickets to the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals will receive $5 off their ticket for the Friday Night Drags.

Also included in the national show are vendor exhibits, a swap meet, a car corral area with vehicles for sale, a model and pedal car display and a free model building area for kids. Street challenge autocross sessions are also scheduled on the road course to test vehicle performance.

On Friday evening, the Richard Petty Driving Experience will offer the opportunity to purchase rides around the 1.5-mile oval at 150-plus mph in the passenger seat of a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car.

To celebrate Halloween on Saturday, the Goodguys car show will provide trick-or-treating and a costume contest for children who attend. Saturday night will see the return of the popular Cruise Under the Lights, where hundreds of hot rods and customs take to the superspeedway for several laps and spectators are invited to watch the cruise from the speedway's frontstretch grandstand.

Tickets for the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals are available at the gate or online at www.good-guys.com. Adult tickets are $17 per day with children ages 7 to 12 admitted for $6 while kids 6 and under are free. Parking for the event is $5.

Event hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Information about the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals may be obtained by calling Goodguys at (925) 838-9876 or the Lowe's Motor Speedway events department at (704) 455-3205 or online at www.good-guys.com or www.lowesmotorspeedway.com.
