Thursday, October 22, 2009 NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Makes Final Stop at Caraway Speedway to Crown a Champion

ASHEBORO, N.C. -- The final event for the Nascar Whelen Southern Modified Tour will be Saturday Night at Asheboro’s Caraway Speedway. A champion will be crowned upon the completion of the 150 lap Open-Wheeled event. Currently George Brunhozel III is the points leader and will only need to start the event to be crowned the 2009 Champion. Andy Seuess, Burt Myers, Brian Loftin and Frank Fleming round out the top five in standings which is subject to change with the final event.
Myers will be pulling double duty on Saturday as he attempts to start the 07 Camping World Truck owned by Bobby Dotter. He tested at Caraway Speedway on Monday in preparation for the Martinsville race.
The final Nascar Whelen Southern Modified Tour event gets under way at 8pm Saturday, with grandstands opening at 6pm and qualifying at 6:30. Also on hand will be the Sportsman, Legends, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and U-Cars.
