 by Kenny Brown
MACON, Ill. -- The O'Reilly POWRi National Midget and Micro Series rolled into town for the NASCAR Night of Stars with Tony Stewart, Mark Martin, Kenny Wallace and Ken Schrader in town but the stars shined in victory lane with Brett Anderson and Joe B. Miller taking the checkers in their feature events. Shane Hmiel started outside front row of the midget feature event and jumped out to an early lead with Shane Cockrum, Dave Darland and Tony Stewart in tow. Hmiel would continue to pace the field on the cushion while the battle was furious behind him as Darland, Anderson, Stewart and Brett Beauchamp battled for second through fifth. Anderson would distance himself from the rest of the field and set his sights on Hmiel. Anderson would catch Hmiel on lap 22 and take the lead heading into turn three. The red flag would fly on lap 23 for Tony Stewart who climbed the wall in turn three and tipped over after being hit by Beauchamp. Stewart and Beauchamp would both restart the event. On the restart, Anderson would take a slim lead with Hmiel, Darland, Mike Hess and Tim Siner, who started 17th, following close behind. Anderson would take the checkers with Darland, Siner, Hess and Bryan Clauson rounding out the top five. Shane Hmiel spun coming off of turn four coming down for the checkers while running second and was relegated to 16th.
