NOTES
Robert Richardson Jr. and the No. 23 Mahindra Tractors Chevrolet

Homecoming: Texas Motor Speedway is the home track for both Robert Richardson Jr. and his sponsor Mahindra Tractors. Richardson, a native and resident of McKinney, TX, grew up playing football, where he played quarterback at McKinney High School before going on to play at Southern Methodist University. After one year of playing at SMU, Richardson’s love for racing took over and he began to focus on his racing career.

Texas Motor Speedway Roots: Richardson Jr. traces his racing roots back to Texas Motor Speedway where he got his start racing Legends in 2003.

NASCAR History at TMS: Robert Richardson Jr. has seven total NASCAR starts at Texas Motor Speedway. Four of the starts have come in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with three starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS). His best finish of 23rd at the 1.5-mile oval came in the NCWTS in 2006.

Top 20 NSCS Debut: Richardson Jr. made his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) debut last weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. After rain forced NASCAR to cancel qualifying Friday the field lined up according to NSCS owner points, forcing Richardson to take the green flag from the 41st position. Richardson was able to stay on the lead lap all day and post a 18th-place finish.

About Memphis: An early wreck during the Kroger On Track for the Cure 250 cut the day short for Robert Richardson Jr. and his Mahindra Tractors Team at Memphis Motorsports Park. Starting the race from the 36th position, Richardson had advanced to 30th before getting involved in the first wreck of the day on lap 7. Richardson and team were able to get the car repaired enough to go back on the track in order to gain a few positions but ultimately finished the day with a 32nd-place finish, 165 laps behind the leader.

Points Check: R3 Motorsports sits 26th in the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series Owner Standings, only 53 markers behind 25th.

Robert Richardson Jr. on Racing at His Home Track: “Racing at Texas is a homecoming for both me and my sponsor Mahindra Tractors. It is the biggest race of the year for me and I always put more pressure on myself to perform at Texas Motor Speedway. I love racing in front of my hometown fans, friends and family. This is the last race of the season for me and I want to end the season on a good note for the entire Mahindra Tractors Team.”

Richardson on Texas Motor Speedway: “Texas Motor Speedway is a fast track. It is similar to Charlotte and Atlanta with multiple groves; you can run anywhere on the track from the apron to the wall so the competition is always really tough. As a driver you have to be patient because the track can easily come up and bite you. It should be a really competitive race and a lot of fun for all the fans.”
About Mahindra Tractors: Tomball, Texas-based Mahindra USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra, one of the largest tractor manufacturers in the world. Mahindra USA began selling tractors in America in 1994 and has grown rapidly due to high customer satisfaction and customer referrals.
