ASTATULA, Fla. -- Last Tuesday, October 27th, Amanda spent the day with her KJ Motorsports #20 sprint car at the Astatula Elementary School for the Arts in Astatula, FL. Astatula is about 20 miles Northwest of Orlando. Amanda was invited to speak to kindergarten, first and fifth grade students about racing. During the first 9 weeks of school, the school-wide reading motto was "Race to Read" and the students who met their reading goal, in Kindergarten, 1st and 5th grades, were allowed to come out and meet Amanda. The students were broken up in to 8 groups. Amanda spoke to the students about how she got started in racing. She then spoke to the students about safety in racing. She covered all the different safety items she uses to keep safe during a race. In addition, she emphasized the importance of being safe at all times - buckling up in the car, wearing a helmet while riding a bicycle/4 wheeler, etc. The students were very eager to ask different questions about her car - things like "How fast do you go?" and "Have you ever wrecked?" and of course "Have you ever won?" After returning to their classes, the students wrote thank you notes and drawings.

Amanda spent over 5 hours at the school and also met with some of the teachers learning more about their "Race to Read" Program and its success. Amanda would like to thank Mrs. Kay, of the Astatula Elementary School, for asking her to be a part of the reading celebration. It was a great day of fun interaction with some really great students.

Keith and Amanda will be back in action Saturday, November 7th at Charlotte County Motorsports Park as Keith contends for the Championship and Amanda continues battling for the title of "Rookie of the Year" in the Checkered Flag Sprint Series
