Whip City Speedway
Saturday, October 3, 2009 Water, Water Everywhere and Not a Whip to Run
by Mark McKeonWESTFIELD, Mass. -- Whip City Speedway suffered its sixth rainout of the year this weekend. The season will conclude on Saturday October 10, with a full card of afternoon and evening races. The 750 Sportsman will be racing for double points, and both the Modified Karts and the 4 Cyl Street Stocks will be part of the exciting action. “I’ve been around for a long time, and I can’t remember this many rainouts since that time it rained for 40 days and 40 nights,” said car owner Noah Zark, as he lined up the Mini Sprints two-by-two. From his lavish estate just off Highway 99 in California, Tom Joad said “If we had known there was that much rain out there, our family might have gone east instead of heading west. Things might have turned out better for the baby if Rose of Sharon had some of that fancy New England medical care, though it probably wouldn’t have been so good for that starving fellow.” Whip City Speedway is easily reached from either Exit 15 or Exit 16 on I-91 and from Exit 4 on the Mass Pike. A single admission gets you two complete shows, with the afternoon show starting at 12:30 pm and the evening show starting at about 4:30 pm. Admission is just $12 for adults, with children 10 and under just $3.00. Check out our website at www.whipcityspeedway.com.
