by Steve Petty

HOLLAND, N.Y. -- The 2013 season is getting closer and closer for the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex for the start of their 54th season of operation.

At the annual registration party at the Holland Willows, the top teams that called Holland home in 2012 will be back in full force for the 2013 campaign. Several drivers that raced at Holland over the years are making their return to the historic highbanks in 2013. Third generation driver George Skora III from Eden, NY is coming back to Holland full time after competing at Lake Erie Speedway. Skora will be competing in the Getzoni Insurance NASCAR Pro Modifieds and looking to take home the track title at the end of the season. Like Skora, Hamburg’s “Downtown” Jeffrey Brown is making his return, also competing in a Pro Modified after racing at Lake Erie. Former multi-time Charger champion “Flying” Brian Hoffman from South Wales will be racing on the highbanks in a pro modified as well. Skora, Brown and Hoffman will try to take back their stake in victory lane at Holland but will have to deal with defending divisional champion Andy Jankowiak, second generation driver Kirk Totten, as well as the Catalano’s will be back in action, all trying to get to winners circle each race night.

Rulebooks were handed out for all divisions as well as pit pad assignments and the 2013 racing schedule was on hand for all in attendance. Officials were also on hand to answer questions for anyone who had them. Drivers also had the opportunity to pick up their contingency program stickers as well as register for the two mall shows, at Eastern Hills Mall and McKinley Mall.

The speedway would like to announce the addition of a second car show set for the weekend of April 25-28 at the Eastern Hills Mall in Williamsville, NY. “We would like to welcome Eastern Hills Mall to our lineup of great supporters and sponsors” says Holland PR Director Steven Petty. Space is limited for this show. For more information about the show at Eastern Hills Mall, email Holland General Manager Tim Bennett. Any car that is registered for this show, will receive bonus points towards the overall track championships.

The show at the McKinley Mall in Hamburg scheduled for the week of May 3-10 will be taking place. “The traditional car show at McKinley Mall is a staple on the schedule” Petty continued. “The show at Eastern Hills is an added bonus and gives our competitors more exposure to more race fans and potentially more sponsors” Petty added.

The 54th season of racing in the Holland hills will begin on Saturday May 25, 2013 at 7:05pm presented by McKinley Mall that features the Getzoni Nationwide Insurance NASCAR Pro Modifieds, the McClurg Auto Group NASCAR Late Models, Bank of Holland Chargers, NASCAR Hornets, M&M U Pull-It Figure 8’s and the Holland Southtown Tire NYPA TQ Midget Series. Other highlights on the schedule includes Carwarz Crash-A-Rama on June 8th and September 14th as well as the return of the Race of Champions Modified Tour, set for Saturday July 6th. The George Decker Memorial 100 will be on August 3rd and Season Championships will take place on August 31st. The return of the Bud 100 will take place on September 7th.
